For those of you in favour of the Gunns proposition, you will be pleased to receive notification that Great Southern Pulpwood Growers in Schemes 1998-2005 have voted to replace GSMAL with Gunns as the Responsible Entity (RE). Gunns Plantations Ltd became the RE of the Schemes following Court orders on the 31 December 2009.

McGrathNicol Update - Tax considerations

Further to the Government's announcement proposing to amend the four year holding period rule, to protect MIS investors from unintended and adverse tax outcomes due to events which are genuinely beyond the investor's control such as the insolvency of the relevant RE, McGrath Nicol have provided a release noting that investors will need to consider the implications of any changes to the scheme documents proposed by potential replacement REs and should obtain their own financial and taxation advice for any proposal.

The Receivers have asked all prospective REs to provide a tax opinion on their proposal for consideration by the investors.
